Wiki-Global, the Celebrity Encyclopedia, began in 2016 as a personal weekend project of one of our editors. He wanted to submit a new Wiki entry on Wikipedia but was banned because Wikipedia editors thought that his entry did not meet Wikipedia’s notability requirements.
He then registered his own domain, bought an affordable Webhosting plan, and began writing about people who, he thought, had been neglected by Wikipedia. He also noticed that they were neglected mostly because they were underdogs, women, in unrespected professions, or people from outside Western countries.
Since then nearly a dozen people have joined the Wiki-Global initiative. We do not, of course, challenge Wikipedia or other big encyclopedia projects. They serve their own purposes. However, we too have found our space on the Web.
With our slogan Our World, Our People we mostly write about celebrities from around the globe. Our mission is to produce accurate biographies. An acumen for accuracy and an insatiable desire for knowledge drives us our work at WikiGlobal.
