The Saroj Koirala Memorial Foundation (also known as shaheed Saroj Koirala Memorial Trust) is a foundation and a trust established in memory of Nepali martyr Saroj Prasad Koirala.
Koirala was a politician belonging to the Nepali Congress party, a cabinet minister in the first democratically elected government in the history of Nepal and a Nepali martyr.
After the democratically elected government was deposed by King Mahendra, Koirala went to India in exile and was active in revolutionary political activities. Koirala was assassinated in 1973 by the Panchayat regime in India’s Madhubani area. In Nepal’s 1957 parliamentary elections, Koirala was elected with a landslide victory from Dhanusa district.
As of June 2015, the foundation has an office in Baluwatar, Kathmandu and organizes different activities and programs to commemorate Koirala’s birth and martyrdom days.
